Synopsis
In 1938, as Nazi troops enter Vienna, lawyer Josef Bartok is captured by the Gestapo while attempting to flee to the USA with his wife. Despite intense interrogation and months of solitary confinement, Bartok finds solace and strength in a stolen chess book, leading to a dangerous fixation.
