Synopsis

During WWII, the Italian Royal Navy submarine Cappellini sinks a merchant ship in darkness. The commander, Salvatore Todaro, chooses to rescue 26 Belgians stranded at sea. To accommodate them, he risks danger by cruising on the water's surface for three days, facing enemy detection.
